CLIFFS OF MOHER WEDDINGS

THE CLIFFS & THE BURREN

The Cliffs of Moher are a popular spot for Elopements and it’s easy to see why. The Cliffs of Moher (Aillte an Mhothair) are 9 miles of sea cliffs, located in County Clare. From here you can see several iconic places, like the Aran Islands, the Maumturks and Twelve Pins mountain, and Loop Head. The views are immense.  They are romantic and wild with changing light and weather. They look different every day.

Another plus for your Cliffs of Moher Wedding, is that there are some really great Irish pubs nearby filled with Irish music and lots of locals, to end the day with a celebratory drink or two! Such a brilliant choice for your Destination Wedding to Ireland.

It’s at the southernmost point of the cliffs of Moher, Hag’s Head, that outdoor ceremonies are held. For getting married in Ireland the legally binding ceremonies must take place in front of the Moher Tower, while symbolic ceremonies can take place anywhere else. There is a lot more freedom with symbolic ceremonies with regards location.

The weather is generally mild. You can expect rain on any day at any time of the year. Choose a time of year to come that suits you and just be prepared.

We also have an indoor option for your Cliffs of Moher wedding, a cosy wedding venue, Tigh Na Ghra.
Tigh Na Ghra is a restored traditional Irish lean-to stone barn located on an 8-acre property overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. It includes a reception area, changing room and seats. The views are astounding. It has everything you need for an intimate ceremony for up to 12 people.

Close by is The Burren National Park which is located in the south-eastern corner of the Burren, covers approximately 1500 hectares, and boasts some of the most spectacular scenery in Ireland. The word “Burren” comes from an Irish word “Boíreann”, which means a rocky place. It’s perfect for walking and enjoying the calm and peace of nature. It also creates a unique backdrop for photo and film for your Ireland Elopement.

Picturesquely located in this National Park, there’s Corcomroe Abbey, a 13th-century monastery ruin. Its dramatic and romantic appearance brings couples from all over the world to celebrate their love and share their vows in this film-worthy setting! It’s a great location for a legal ceremony for your destination wedding to Ireland, where you can have a location shoot at the cliffs nearby.

There is also an indoor option for a legal ceremony in the Burren; Newtown castle. This is a 16th-century tower with a rustic feel. Again it’s close to the cliffs for a photoshoot after.
